Andy Turner doubled Britain’s medal tally after winning bronze in the 110m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships.

Andy admitted to having mixed feelings about the result after Cuba’s Dayron Robles was stripped of his gold for impeding China’s Liu Xiang. However, he had ran a fantastic race, finishing in 13.44 seconds, resulting in a podium finish.

Andy said of his success, “I’ve thought about this and dreamt about winning a world medal after my success in Barcelona but it was a big step up. It’s not the way I wanted to win a medal but I can’t complain.”

Andy was dropped from lottery funding two years ago to only to bounce back in Barcelona last summer and setting a personal best of 13.22secs. Andy has proven he can now mix it on the world stage, beating American David Oliver, the bronze medallist from Beijing, who was just behind him.
