At the Sport Essex Awards on Wednesday 16th November James was chosen from a shortlist of 3 nominees to win the Essex Sports Personality of the Year award.
James said: “It’s great to get the recognition, but it’s also great see all the other sports people that are putting in all the training ahead of 2012.” This is the second consecutive year in which he has won the award.
On the same night Essex County Council revealed 14 Team Essex Ambassadors ahead of 2012, of which James is one.
As a result James will recieve funding to help his preparations for 2012 and in return he will visit local schools and community groups to inspire people about the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
