Britain won 10 medals at the 2009 British Open, which took place at the K2, Crawley at the weekend. The host nation finished second in the medal table behind Spain who won 14 medals.

Britain won four gold medals, one silver and five bronze medals. British gold’s were won by GSE’s Ashley McKenzie (-60kg), Winston Gordon (-90kg), Peter Lomax (-100kg) and Karina Bryant (+78kg).

Ashley, who was the only reigning British Open Champion defending their title going into the event, looked at ease throughout the day and retains his title.
