Naomi Folkard broke the national record for the ladies’ long metric round in the FITA Star at Meriden’s Forest Ground this weekend.
The competition attracted some of the country’s top archers to shoot three-dozen arrows at each of four distances. But the cold, wet weather resulted in 12 archers not starting and 20 retiring before the end.
Naomi made an excellent start with 326 for 70m and 343 for 60m, giving her 669 for the long metric to put three points on the national record set in 2003 by Alison Williamson.
With 322 for 50m and 350 for 30m, she finished with an outstanding 1,341, well ahead of the rest of the field.
