Following his bronze medal in the 10m synchro with Tom Daley at the FINA Diving Wrold Series event in China, Pete Waterfiled went on to claim a second bronze in the individual competition yesterday.
The event, which took place in the iconic ‘Cube’, the swimming and diving venue from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, saw Pete dive an international personal best of 546.95. China continued their domination of the weekend as Qiu Bo and Cao Yuan finished in the gold and silver medal positions respectively.
Speaking of his success Pete said, “It’s been a great couple of days for me. I feel good and it’s just great to be able to continue to show people what I’m capable of, whilst competing with the very best in the world.”
Speaking of the next stage of the World Series, which takes place on home soil at Ponds Forge in Sheffield in three weeks time, he said, “I can’t wait. The buzz around diving in the UK is getting stronger every day so I’ve no doubt the support is going to be unbelievable”.
