Zoe Smith
Known as Great Britain’s strongest schoolgirl, Zoë Smith has lifted her way to the top of her sport. The young athlete first started weightlifting at just the age of 12, a former Gymnast, she was asked to make up the numbers in a weightlifting team for the London Youth Games. Taken under the wing of her trainer Andy Callard at the Europa Gymnastics Centre, it was here she continued her development and the rest became history. Zoë was inspired to become one of the most exciting young weightlifting talents Britain has ever produced, smashing nearly every national record there is. She has amassed a string of age-group titles and records since taking up the sport, including the gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India, two years ago. With the countdown to London 2012 set in her mind, Zoe is focussed on the lead up to the Games and forever developing her formidable talent.
